So are there any plans for future contests? I know there are a lot of people who would love to have another contest, and plus it's great for the community.
I loved "Rob's":http://www.wilshireone.com/ "responce":http://textplates.com/2006/03/20/the-results#c000399 to Alex McKee's "comment:":http://textplates.com/2006/03/20/the-results#c000398 _"Why wait until 2007?"_
I personally beleive, at the risk of the contests eventually getting old and stale, that we should hold one every 6 months. Two contests a year ensures that we always have fresh templates, (And perhaps in the hopefully-soon future, "themes":http://forum.textpattern.com/viewforum.php?id=29).
It's definitely going to be at least an annual thing. I'm afraid that holding two per year would be too much and might detract from the excitement of the event.
I think that the contests would get older and more stale if they were held too closely together.
What about accepting templates year round? I think it would be excellent to see the collection grow, even during the "off season".
Announce in advance when the competition will begin and people can submit pieces they wish to be eligible then. But, for many, they are still learning the system. They may come up with a great theme that will suit many, but they don't feel meets the contest's standard.

I don't know about accepting templates year round, I think there should be a definite span for the contest. That being said, I do agree with you that the competition's dates should be specified in advance.
Was the span for this competition good? Too long/short? Bad period?
I agree with Tom too. It didn't occur to me when I wrote that comment that anything but next year would be considered for the next time the contest would be held.
If you take entries all year round there is no reason to "get it done" so entries would drag out, take the back seat to other projects and some would never get submitted.
Regarding the above: I think the span was sufficient but at a bad period.
